This is just a quick update to let everyone know the situation with Blockdrop and the coronavirus. Obviously with us being an online company, we have no reason to close. In fact I will be self isolating at home and spending even more time on Blockdrop than I normally would. Blockdrop will stay online during the whole coronavirus situation.
As well as that, as we anticipate an increase in player numbers due to people being kept at home for longer due to the outbreak, we will be adding some extra new fun game modes (like Bedwars) to keep people entertained throughout this whole situation.
I know that now this virus may seem scary and intimidating but this is something that we can deal with. My honest advice to people Is to stay at home as much as possible, irrelevant of if your school/college/work would tell you otherwise. Even governments are not 100% sure on the long term effects of this outbreak and when it comes to life and death situations, the importance...
Today's update is about 2 topics: The factions reset and the Australia wildfires fund!
First of all, I would like to announce that a new season of factions will start on Friday the 24th of January 2020. We have some great improvements planned including an updated watchdog and loads of new features. If you have any ideas for new features that we could add then please make a thread in the factions section on the forums. I promise to read them all!
I would also like to say that, to ensure that any donations this week are not wasted. All donations made between today and the new reset will be re-sent on the new reset. This means that anything you purchase before the reset will be received again when you log in after the reset, meaning you essentially get to use it twice. This includes literally everything, including keys, extras, and even the rewards when purchasing a rank.
But that is not the end of the good news! I am pleased to announce that during the past week...
Following the success of our Team Trees donation and after reading about the terrible situation in Australia right now, I think it would only be right to try to help towards this situation. Australia is burning right now. Over a billion animals have already died and an area bigger than 1/3rd the side of the UK has already burned down. They urgently need help.
I know that we have spent a lot over the holidays and that people do not have loads of money right now. But everything helps and this is why we should do this as a community. Our contribution as a server is much bigger than anything that we can do alone.
As those of you that have attempted to join survival will know, it will be resetting on Friday!
I wanted to make this post just to highlight the reasons for this and let you know what to expect from the new update.
As you may know, we updated to the 1.14 version when it was last released. After a few days, we started to notice that 1.14 was slightly laggy. This was inbuilt into Minecraft (its to do with the way that new chunks of the map are generated). The 1.15 Minecraft release contains many optimizations for chunk loading and therefore we decided that it would be a priority to update.
As well as being a much more responsive server we decided to add a shop. The shop is designed specifically for survival. The prices adjust based on the quantities of items being purchased and sold. This will result in the prices changing over time and reflecting the rarity of items in-game (I.e. dirt will become cheap but a diamond will get more expensive as time goes on)...
