Hello Blockdrop

Today I think an update is due just to explain the situation with Factions so that everyone is on the same page. Factions is resetting tomorrow (Friday November 6th). Most other big networks reset around every 2 months anyway and this is in line with that. However a few people have pointed out that Blockdrop normally will wait longer than most servers between resets. This is true, normally we do like to take around 6 months (depending on the game mode) between resets as we believe that it is better to give players the ability to really spend time and building up greta bases/farms etc. The main reason for the factions reset on Friday is down to corrupted data. As some people may know, “lag farms” have been popular on Minecraft in recent months and unfortunately one was added to factions that made it lag and corrupt the data. A great number of big networks have had similar issues and I have been in talks with other server owners on a good way to stop this. We have since implemented updates to every game mode to make lag farms impossible and to safeguard your progress in games. We think that with the factions being already 2 months old, a reset back to the beginning would be better than just removing the corrupted data (mainly faction and rank data). We feel that this is the fairest option for everyone and we have the added benefit of using this time to move factions to a better (the best/most expensive available) dedicated server to ensure that after the reset, things will be running faster then ever before.

Obviously with this reset being not planned, we won’t be adding a range of new updates to the server but we will be adding updates over the next month to factions, just to compensate for the reset. I have seen a few people asking about returning of donator items and I think it is only fair that we do this. Obviously we cannot just return everything, a new season with every single donator item from last season would cause chaos and massive disparity. We are going to use the same process as before by resending anything purchased just before the reset but as this reset was unexpected we will be extending the time frame to 2 weeks. Any purchases made after October 20th will be resent on the reset day. This is because, although temporary items are just that, (temporary), we guarantee that people will at least have time to use them. Obviously ranks etc will all still be in game as they are for lifetime.

Thanks for reading.
